Why you should visit Mangahurco

If you are looking for a dreamy landscape, this is your chance!

In the Loja province, close to January and February, you can visit Mangahurco, a place famous for the blooming of the Guayacán Trees. For five days, Mangahurco it's loaded with a beautiful yellow tone, tone that indicates the beginning of winter.

Location and Weather

As stated before, Mangahurco it's located in Loja, specifically in the Zapotillo canton. Mangahurco 

it's also pretty close to the peruvian border. 
The weather in Mangahurco it's mostly tropical.

Gastronomy

The gastronomy in Mangahurco it's very similar to other places gastronomy (specially the gastronomy of the Ecuadorian highlands). 

We have traditional dishes like seco de chivo, chivo al hueco, seco de gallina, fritada con yuca and saussages. This traditional dishes use common ingredients in Ecuador like avocado, yuca, cooking bananas or sweet potato.

Flora and Fauna

Apart from the Guayacán Tree, Mangahurco has other types of trees that compose its forests. The types of trees are: pretino, ceibo and the roblón. The fauna in Mangahurco it's also diverse, having 34 mammal species, 112 bird species, 8 amphibian species and 12 reptilian species. We can say that Mangahurco it's a biodiverse place.

Activities and Traditions

People in Mangahurco it's well known for its kindness and its religious and cultural customs. They tend to celebrate a lot, specially the 16th of July and the 9th of October to the 12th of October. In this celebrations, they do a lot of ecuadorean activities like the vaca loca, folklore dances and traditional games. In Mangahurco you can also  visit other interesting places like Balneario del Inca, Valle de Cazaderos and Río Puyango.

Although Mangahurco it's mostly recognizable for the blooming of the Guayacán trees, the residents of Mangahurco also like to boost other  turistic attractives, specially art and artesanies or the buildings itself which are veryold. People in Mangahurco also gives a lot of importance to  the biodiversity of the place, caring about preserving all of the life in the place.
